Be it the shayri of Iqbal or the chaukay of Shoaib Malik, Sialkot never fails to impress. The thriving business community has out done itself yet again, after the creation of the region’s first ever privately owned Airport, the business community has launched its very own airline, Air Sial, and they’re flying high in style.
Sialkot International Airport is the fastest growing airport in Pakistan as identified by the Civil Aviation Authority, observing around 60% increases in International traffic each year in the last decade. Ameen Ahsan, CEO of Air Sial, sees the new airline bridging the demand-supply gap that has resulted from sub-par airlines such as Shaheen and PIA which fail to meet the increasing demand for travel. The new airline would have its hub at Sialkot International Airport.
The airline is expected to operate domestically for the next two years, after which it will expand internationally. This airport as well as the airline is to be credited to the members of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry
December 9, 2020: The airline was inaugurated by our very own Prime Minister, Imran Khan. All eyes were at the inauguration so they had to make it worth our while and live up to legacy. This is where our favorite designer, Nomi Ansari, comes in.
“It is with immense pleasure AirSial announces, that Pakistan’s topmost performing designer in the fashion industry known for his exceptional and astounding dresses, having bagged countless awards has designed uniforms for us and it is none other than Nomi Ansari the styling icon of Pakistan.” – AirSial
Nomi Ansari has designed the crew uniforms for Air Sial and it already has us sweating. The women have an elegant short green shirt paired with a jacket and a cap. The scarf, to be worn around the neck, indicates the position in the crew and is the real eye grabber. The alternative is a cowl around the neck and the scarf around the head. Additionally, the color of the piping used also differs with the crew positions. Nomi still has us waiting on the men’s uniform, but we’re expecting it to be just as striking if not more.
“I had been working on this project for a year now and the uniforms actually got done earlier this year, in April. But then, the airlines’ launch got delayed due to Covid. I made different variations and then shortlisted the design that they preferred. I wanted to give the uniforms a tailored look and select a color that was neutral and went with all skin tones”- says the designer.
This is the second time Nomi Ansari has designed uniforms for an airline, the first being PIA which actually went on to be a greater hit than the airline itself. We hope that the designer is the only common thing between the two airlines and that Air Sial, goes on to be just as much of a success as the designer itself- Nomi Ansari.
