What’s more productive than to acknowledge our own roots and admire our achievements as Muslims? We are prone to watch seasons and videos that are just killing our time and nothing else. So why not opt for something that brings us closer to what we really are? For that particular reason, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan urged Pakistanis during quarantine to watch the famed Turkish series Dirilis Ertugrul as it illustrates the true essence of Islamic values, Muslim culture and unprecedented history that can restore our faith as Muslims. Dirilis Ertugrul, the show is set in 13th century and centers around the life of Ertuğrul Ghazi, the father of Osman I, who was the founder of the Ottoman Empire.
The drama series got immense appreciation, love and support from all across the globe especially from Pakistan. As soon as the series was dubbed in Urdu and got aired on PTV, Pakistanis were going gaga over the hit drama series. While creating a hype in Pakistan, many celebrities had criticized it’s airing on National Tv channel but got brutally trolled by Pakistanis. Love had definitely turned into obsession in Pakistan not only for the drama series owing to its Islamic concept but also for the lead cast. Speaking of which, Halima Sultan and Ertugrul Ghazi played by acclaimed Turkish actors Esra Bilgic and Engin Altan, have gotten endless love from Pakistanis.
Quite impressed by Halima Sultan’s character in the drama played by iconic actress Esra Bilgic, whose portrayal of Halime Hatun (Halima Sultan) has led to a dedicated male following in our country. Esra Bilgic made every Pakistani swoon over her gorgeous aura, acting skills and astonishing personality. Grabbing the attention of our local audience and ensnaring Pakistanis ultimately. Her character in the drama was overwhelming as she portrays a princess warrior who was capable for fighting for honor and respect whilst being covetable and family oriented.
Esra Bilgic got instant attention of Pakistanis and we witnessed an influx of Pakistani followers on her social media. As she posted many of her professional shoot pictures on her Instagram, her comment section is instilled with Urdu in which people are trolling her for being bold. If we take it all optimistically, Pakistanis love is truly unconditional as they attempt to morally police their favorite actors to not go astray in any way! Their love has transcended the sets of the show as they seek to superimpose the character of their admired Halime Sulatan on Esra.
Whilst endearing, the incessant trolling has compelled the Turkish starlet to turn off comments on her recent bikini post. Our Islamic values should indeed be the guiding light of our lives but we must be careful to respect the personal choices of each individual. Pakistanis have broken records in terms of watching the series on it’s official You Tube channel. Acquiring that much love and appreciation form Pakistan, the Turkish Diva reached out to her Pakistani fans through social media and thanked everyone for eternal love.
Owing to her sky rocketing popularity in Pakistan, Turkish actress shared her views regarding the love she is getting from Pakistan; Esra comments, “When I saw the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Turkish news channels, saying that a successful project such as Ertugrul should be aired on their local channel, I felt surprised and proud at the same time. If we didn’t have a pandemic upon us, I would have visited Pakistan several times by now.”
She has asserted her feelings for Pakistan many times in interviews and through social media posts. She also shared her wish to visit Pakistan and Kashmir soon. On work front, the actress has signed collaboration with three brands of Pakistan and also considering being brand ambassador for Peshawar Zalmi. We hope to see her soon in Pakistan!!
